Hi everyone,
This week’s newsletter is a little more personal.
On Tuesday, I took on a challenge I had been thinking about for a few weeks: a 12 hour walk.
I’ve been reading The 12-Hour Walk by Colin O’Brady, which challenges you to spend 12 hours walking without the normal distractions of everyday life. No podcasts. No music. Just you, your thoughts, and a lot of walking.
So I decided to actually do it.
I started Tuesday morning and walked for 12 hours (including food and bathroom breaks), covering almost 32 miles. I’ve included a map of the route below.
As an entrepreneur, husband, father, and someone who is constantly moving between meetings, calls and decisions, there aren’t many opportunities to spend an entire day with no agenda.
I thought about the business, my family, where I want to be a year from now, and some things I’ve probably been overthinking.
I also realized how much I enjoy doing something difficult simply because it is difficult.
There’s no investment return from walking for 12 hours. No business deal comes from it. There’s nothing to check off other than finishing.
But I think those are sometimes the things that are worth doing.
The walk gave me 12 hours to slow down, think clearly and get comfortable being uncomfortable.
By the last couple of hours, my legs were definitely tired, but I’m glad I stuck with it.
Have a great weekend.
